FAQs

Pricing:

Many people contact me with questions about pricing. While many tattooers use an hourly rate to price tattoos, I price designs by the piece. Virtually all palm/hand size tattoos fall in the price range of 200-600 dollars depending on size, complexity and location. The majority of my customers select from predrawn designs, flash and ideas they’ve seen on my social media. When booking, please indicate if you have a budget in mind! Almost all ideas can be drawn to accommodate any budget. I am happy to do custom work as well! Pricing for custom work will be discussed during your consultation but falls into the same range as predrawn designs. Please keep in mind that not all ideas and concepts fall into my realm of expertise or are possible in the format requested. If I feel that I am not the best person to do your tattoo, I have no problem putting you in contact with a trusted colleague.

Aftercare:

Customers generally fall into two camps- the tegaderm camp or the lotion/ointment camp. I have aftercare instructions for each. Tegaderm will heal your tattoo quicker but ointment requires less finesse. Contact me if you have questions about either method.

Tegaderm- Keep your tattoo wrapped overnight. In the morning, unwrap your tattoo and clean it with unscented antibacterial soap. The gold colored Dial soap is the easiest to find. Make sure you clean the tattoo and the area around it thoroughly so the adhesive from the tegaderm can stick. Allow your tattoo to dry for about 30 minutes, periodically blotting it if any plasma seeps out. After 30 minutes, lay the tegaderm on FLAT with no creases or bubbles. Leave on for up to 7 days. After 7 days, remove the tegaderm and clean the tattoo applying lotion ONLY if it seems dry. Many customers find the feeling of the plasma accumulation in the tattoo barrier uncomfortable after a day or two. If you want to replace it, repeat the steps above and place a new piece on just as if it were a new tattoo. Refer to the video below.

Ointment- Keep your tattoo wrapped overnight. In the morning, unwrap your tattoo and clean it with unscented antibacterial soap. The gold colored Dial soap is the easiest to find. Make sure you clean the tattoo and the area around it thoroughly. For the first four days, apply a PAPER THIN layer of Aquaphor once in the morning and once at night. After four days, switch to an unscented lotion. If the tattoo has so much ointment on it that when you touch it there’s residue on your finger, you are using too much. Over zealous ointment application can harm your tattoo. You want it to breathe. Less is more.

Whatever method you use, all tattoos take 6 weeks to fully heal and settle in the skin. While the tattoo may superficially heal in the first 1-2 weeks, things are still going on behind the scenes until the 6 weeks is complete. All work is guaranteed for 99 years from the date of application.
